“I just have some headache. Can I
just go to sleep?”
“Sure we will leave you now.” And
both sisters went out living Ranma alone.
Ranma was glad that he was alone. He
closed his eyes and more memories came to him. Some how he knew that these are
his past lives. ‘My name is Ranma, not Eugene.’ Then he went to sleep.

Ranma slowly opened his eyes and
immense headache struck him. He used his usual meditation to clear it away.
‘Okay so I’m Ranma Soatome. I remember the comic book. He turns into girl when
touched by cold water. That’s strange I never was born as the person. I usually
came in the middle of their lives. Oh well this thing never works the same
anyway.’ This was his 10th world he traveled. This was weird because
he was Ranma from the start. But the memory of the past just came today. ‘Must
be from Akane’s banging.’ That was his only solution. Well he was glad actually
since he used to love Ranma ½ when he was Eugene.
“Get up son!” That was his father “We have to train!”
Ranma instantly got up and headed
outside where his father is waiting.
“Sorry pop I had to get rid of my
headache.”
“Ha your fiancée got you hard didn’t
she?”
“She is not my fiancée!” Ranma
yelled and charged. But of course he didn’t forgot to pull back since living as
Gohan and Goku gave him immense strength. His father fought hard. And this
sparring match was getting fun. At last Genma leaped at his son and Ranma also
leaped. They held a little air combat when Kasumi called for breakfast. “Thank
you dear” Genma said as he grabbed his son. Ranma yelled as his father locked
and grabbed his leg. He panicked when he saw that he was heading straight to
poi pond. He did his best he can do. He first somehow got out of the lock and……
SPLASH
!
Wet panda got out of the pond and
looked for his son. But he was not in the pond. He looked up and saw Ranma
hovering. Hovering! ‘When did he learn that?’ he thought.
“Sorry pop.”
“Growf?”
“Later. Now I am hungry.” Ranma said as he sprinted
and sat next to Akane to eat breakfast. “How did you do that?” Akane asked, and
Ranma answered. “Simple I just use my ki to ride around the natural chi that
are everywhere.”
“You can use Ki?” Soun, Genma, and Akane yelled. Of
course Genma hold out the sign. Ranma just shrugged, and just started his
breakfast. And it was really good. He have to give credit to Kasumi for that.
He was enjoying the food when his father interrupted.
[starting today you are going to school] He held up
the sign
“School?”
“Yeah it’s the school me and Akane goes to.” Nabiki
said as she put on her shoes.
“Wait! Let me go with you.” Akane said
“What? You have to go with you fiancée.” With that
Nabiki went out. Akane gave Ranma a deadly look but he ignored, and went back
to eating.
--R-- --A-- --N-- --M-- --A--
Akane was running down the street while Ranma was
running on top of the fence. Akane who was annoyed at this asked “Why are you
doing that?” but however she didn’t get any answer. She looked at his face and
it was gloomy. Normally she wouldn’t care but she asked again anyway. “What’s
wrong with you?” Ranma still did not answer. “Hello? Are you deaf? I said what’s
wrong with you?”
This time he answered. “ Why should I tell you? You
wouldn’t even understand.”
“Try me.”
“sign… okay as you know I been traveling through
China and trained a lot. I was in constant moving. So I never really have any
friend. Except one named Ukyo. I stayed with him for about 2 month. And I had
to move again. I …..”
Akane stopped and looked at his face. Is that tears?
He continued “I’m sorry. It’s just
that. I wanted some friends. A real friend. When you asked yesterday that you
want to be friend. I was really happy. Of course I was mad at being forcedly
engaged. But at least I got a friend…..Until you found real me. How the hell am
I suppose to know that you hate guys. I don’t know why you are being so
stereotype, but I guess there is very good reason to it. I was really
disappointed when you started to yell at me. And worst of all……. Most of them
are true.”
‘So he is a pervert.’ Akane thought
“I’m not a pervert…. But you are right. I’m a
freak……. Look at me…. A sex-changing freak.” Ranma crouched down and looked at
his hands. He had tears. Akane suddenly felt guilty. She remembered what she
did yesterday, and some of them made her feel really guilty. Maybe she
shouldn’t say that he was a freak.
“I.. I’m sorry. I didn’t know…” Akane tried to
apologize.
“No.. I’m the one that has to say that.. I should
have told you the truth from the start… I was just scared…”
They stared at each other. “Look Akane I don’t care
about this fiancée business. Heck I’m not even sure that my pop gonna stay and
fulfill this promise…. Can we at least be friend?”
Akane looked at him. Here is the guy who is in
desperate need of the friend. And she just had to….. “ Okay.” She said. Ranma
raised and held up a arm. “I’m Ranma Soatome of Soatome’s Anything Goes Martial
Art School.” Akane smiled and accepted his hand and shook. “I’m Akane Tendo of
Tendo’s Anything Goes Martial Art School.”
“I see you have made a new friend Akane.” Akane
turned and saw Dr. Tofu, and blushed. “You are lucky Akane. I can tell that he
has a good and caring heart.” She blushed more. “Thank you doctor. I have to
go. I’m gonna be late.” With that she grabbed Ranma and ran.
“I thought you hated the men ?”
“Yeah so?”
“You were blushing at him.” At that Akane Blushed
again. “ He tended my injuries ever since I was young. He is a nice person.”
“And a great martial artist.”
“Huh? How did you know?”
“His aura. Anyway why do you hate all men?”
They were nearing the school. Ranma was looking for
the answer when bunch of students armed to teeth came charging at them. Ranma
jumped into safety while Akane was engaged to fight. As usual Akane won. She
was standing in the middle of the battle field cursing all the student who
stacked her then Ranma came jumping down next to her.
“Man
you are popular aren’t you.”
“Every single morning. Can’t they
get the message.”
“You! Who gave you the right to talk
to my beauteous Akane?” Ranma looked and saw a boy in a samurai garb and a
bokken. “Well I….. Should I tell him Akane.”
“Held! Ah but it is the tradition to
introduce thyself first. Fine then mine I will give.” Ranma looked at him. He remember reading the Ranma ½ comic book.
This guy is Kuno. An idiot. And if he remembered correctly it gonna rain soon.
“I am the shining and undefeated star of Furinkan High. Also Known as Blue
Thunder of Furinkan High.” Then a sound effect of Thunder came. “Takewaki Kuno,
age 17!”
Ranma had a huge sweat drop on his
head. He had forgotten how annoying Kuno is. Hey live several different lives,
and you will understand.
“Well…I am Ranma Soatome heir to Soatome’s Anything
Goes Martial Art School, and I am staying at Tendos.” He knew that’s gonna make
him mad.
“What under the same roof as Akane? I forbid it!”
Kuno was outraged and swung. Ranma easily dodged the blow. Kuno however did not
stop. He swung again and again. Getting bored Ranma yelled. “Hey stop it. We
gonna be late! Fine you want a fight!” Then he gave him fury of blows.
Instantly Kuno was knocked down.
Akane was stunned. She knew that Ranma was good, but
He just beat Kuno with out any sweat. Maybe she should ask him if he could
teach him. After he wasn’t like other boys. And he was her friend. He turned to
her and said. “Come on Akane We gonna be late. And it seems like it gonna rain.
You do remember about water don’t ya?” Akane nodded and ran inside the school.
But however they were late.
Akane sat down on her desk. She was late so as soon
as the teacher finished with calling out the name she will stand outside. She
was mad. Really mad. Friends were asking who the guy was but she just ignored
them. After all it was his fault. Soon Ranma joined her too. It took him a
while because he had to introduce himself to the class. When he stood next to
her she ignored him.
“I am sorry. I didn’t mean to make you late. I
shouldn’t have fought that guy.” He apologized. Akane blinked at him. He was
actually apologizing. She didn’t expect that from him. She felt guilty. Maybe
she should be more reasonable. After all it was Kuno that started all this. “No
its okay. I mean it was Kuno that started it.”
“What was that all about anyway?”
“Sign…. Kuno told them. He said that if anybody
defeat me that they can go out with me. Ever since then, they tried to attack
me.”
“That’s… That’s idiotic.”
“I know.”
“Why doesn’t anybody stop him?”
“How? He is the best fighter. If some one try to
ignore him, Kuno will beat him up.”
Then Ranma censored a danger. He immediately jumped.
Luckily he missed the water splash by Kuno. “Never! I will never tolerate YOUR
ENGEGMENT TO AKANE!” Kuno yelled in rare. Ranma wondered how he knew. ‘Nabiki
go figures.’ But that was not the problem. The whole class went berserk. They
were asking questions that they don’t know how to answer. Akane was having
trouble handling it herself, so Ranma decided to come in. He spread his hand to
the crowd and focused his ki. Soon he had his yellow ki formed in his hand.
Student gulped at the ki formed by Ranma. More
importantly it was pointed strait at them. They didn’t know what it is but they
do know that it will hurt a lot. “Look. Our parents engaged us and we never
agreed to it. Right now we are just friends. You got questions about that? Ask
Nabiki. I repeat we are just friends.”
“Silence fool.” Kuno yelled, but was hit by Ranma’s
yellow ki energy, sending him across the hall and putting him to unconscious.
Ranma satisfied at the view turned back to the students, who were not believing
what they saw. “Look Kuno is an idiot and you don’t have to listen to him. If
you do it will make you more idiot. If
you want to go out with Akane? Just ask her. If she wants to, she will day
yes.” Crowd cheered at him. Boys
because now they can just ask Akane out. If she says yes that is. Girls because
they hated all the attention Akane got. Akane looked at her friend and silently
thanked at him.

“Uh I’m sorry Ranma
I didn’t meant to hit you like that.” Akane apologized
“It’s okay. I should have been more
careful.” Ranma said. His cheek was still sore from the baseball that was hit
by Akane. She may be a girl but she was immensely strong. No wonder she is such
a tomboy.
“Why don’t we go visit Dr. Tofu. He
can treat your little bruise.” Akane suggested.
“So you can go and have a look at
him?” Ranma said and noticed a blush from Akane’s face. “Sure. Let’s go I
wanted to go there anyway.” And they both headed toward the clinic.
Inside clinic there wasn’t any
people. Dr. Tofu was the only person there. “Dr. Tofu I brought a patient for
you.” Akane said cheerfully. She was glad to see Dr. Tofu again.

Ranma watched as Akane ran away. He
swore that he saw tears in her eyes. He knew and remembered that Dr. Tofu is in
love with Kasumi. He found that rather funny. The way he acted, but when he saw
Akane he felt sorry for her. Even his neck was crooked he decided to run after
her. He was amazed how fast she ran. He lost her but he knew where he can find
her.
It took 5 minutes to get back home.
By that time he fixed his neck himself. He slowly made to the back yard where
he knows that Akane is there. Sure enough he found her, heads down and her hand
on the wall. She was definitely crying. Feeling sympathetic, he walked toward
her and put his hand on her shoulder. “Akane?”
Akane immediately turned around,
when she found that it was Ranma she signed. “Oh it’s you.”
“Wanna spar?” Ranma asked knowing
that it might make her feel better. His answer came when he saw her smiling.
“Sure”
Next minute they were in the dojo
trading blows and blows. Ranma even
though he hated hitting girls, decided that it will be better if he did. He
didn’t forget to pull the punches though. And received few hits. In other
words, he put his level same as hers. Surprisingly Akane’s level went up
dramatically and he was caught surprise when she threw him over the shoulder.
He slowly got up and saw smiling Akane.
“You should smile more often, you
look really cute when you smile” Ranma said. Akane received the word and was
found dumb struck. Ranma took this moment and tripped her, causing her to drop.
“Hey…. Hey that’s cheating !” Akane
said when she realized what happened. But Ranma just walked away. Somehow she
was still smiling.
Akane came out from her shower,
feeling refreshed. She sat on her bed and thought about what Ranma said to her.
“You look really cute when you smile” This thought had stuck her head ever
since he said it. Sure every boy in her school said that to her, but when he said it, it was somehow
different. Somehow she hoped that he really meant it.
Knock Knock.
Akane heard the knock. It was from
her door. Even though she was still in her pajamas she said “Come in” She
expected her sister to come in but it was Ranma who came in.
“Hi. Can I talk to you?”
“Um. Sure.”
Ranma sat next to her. Deep inside
she was glad that he sat next to her. She found herself blushing and looked at
the floor, and she realized how interesting it was.
“Can I ask you why you ran way
crying ?”
Akane didn’t said anything for a while because
sadness came over her. But later she answered.
“It’s Dr. Tofu. Ever since I was
young I had a crush on him…. But he always seems to like Kasumi. You saw how he
acted when he saw her? Didn’t you? And that hurts… I did my best to look like
her and make him notice me, but it never worked.”
Akane felt the tears coming to her
eyes. And tried to stop it. Ranma feeling sorry for her put his arm around her shoulder. Akane
usually would have hit whoever did that to her, but knowing that it was Ranma
she let him.
“Akane. Love is something you can
never define and can never figure out. It seems like Dr. Tofu loves Kasumi for
her kind heart. I’m sorry to say this but best thing to do is to let him go.”
Akane made her way to his chest and
nuzzled into it. “I know but it’s hard.”
Few minutes of silence, then Akane continues. “Ranma?”
“Hm?”
“Did you mean that?”
“Mean what?”
“When you said that I look cute when
I smile.”
“Yeah. You do”
“Thanks.”
And rest of the night they spent
talking wash other, telling their storied, and secrets, and they became better
friends. Or perhaps more.

Ryoga was mad. And he blamed Ranma
for it. Because of him he had seen hell. And he will pay. He is a coward. He
ran away from man to man duel. Ha and he call himself a man? Well he did come
on the fourth day but still he should have waited. God why is keeping on running
away. Can’t he stay on one play.
“Where is Furinkan High?” He asked
the person he grabbed who was coming out of the building. But all he did was to point to front of him.
To his surprise it said Furinkan High. He felt really stupid. “Where is Ranma?”
And student pointed to the couple coming out of the school. He noticed the
pig-tail anywhere. Grinning he jumped.
Ranma was walking next to Akane.
They were both chatting about their day. It has been a month since that day and
their friendship grew deeper and deeper. He was about to tell her about his
experience in Chinese village when his 6th sense went crazy. Without
thinking he grabbed Akane and jumped backward. In a blink of an eye the ground
where he had stood were mass. And in the middle was a figure in a gold and
black headband. He was grinning at him
“Long time no see Ranma.” He said.
“Do you know him Ranma ?” Akane
asked
“Sure he is that Hibiki boy I told
you about. Remember the guy who gets lost easily?”
“Ah Hello. I’m Akane. Ranma told a
lot about you.” Akane said giving him her hand.
Ryoga was speechless. Here was the
beautiful girl who was friendly with her. Did has just got to be some kind of
trick. After all Ranma was just talking to her. He quickly got up. And yelled
“Die
Ranma.” Of course Ranma easily evaded his continuing attack. He found it rather
easy.
“Hey what’s wrong what’s got into
you?”
“Shut up and stay still. Because of
you I have seen hell!”
“What did I do?”
Ryoga stopped and gave him an
annoying look. And said “Fine then why didn’t you come to our man-to-man
fight?”
“Ryoga I did come. I was there for 3
days.”
“Yes but when I came on 4th
day you have ready ran away!”
“Um Ryoga. The meeting place
was a lot right behind your house.”
Ryoga was embarrassed. He had just
made fun of him and now everybody was making fun of him. Even that beautiful
girl who offered her hand. He was getting mad but he kept his cool “Remember
Ranma. No matter what I will destroy your happiness.” The he turned around and
walked away. After 5 steps he found himself staring at Tokyo Tower, or rather
from the top of the Tokyo Tower.
Ranma was worried. Ryoga was here.
He thought he was his best friend but somehow he was mad at him. He searched
his memory to see why he was mad. He remembered the bread Freud. It was rather
funny. And he remembered that he is cursed. By him but Ryoga doesn’t know that.
Oh well he will find out sooner or later anyway.
“Ranma?” Akane called to him, or her
since she is at his girl form right now.
“What is it?’
“Don’t you think it is funny. I
don’t think this is about the bread.”
“Yeah I got the funny feeling that
its something else and he is blaming on me.”
“Anyway the battle is suppose to be
yesterday.” Akane said looking at the challenge letter.
“Oh don’t worry. Knowing him he
should be in somewhere in Hiroshima.” And he was quiet true.

A week later, Ryoga found his way
back to Furinkan High. He was going to teach Ranma a lesson for what he did to
him. He was going to make him suffer. He was in middle of the soccer field and
was facing his foe Ranma. Students were gathering around the field to watch the
fight. After all Ranma was their best fighter. And Ryoga seems to be very good
also. Maybe he could beat him. Akane also sat on the side to watch the fight.
After she saw what Ranma could do She was curious what was going to happen.
“Finally you made it. I was waiting for you for a week.” Ranma
said.
“Shut up! Do you know what I have
gone through just to get here!”
“Yeah. Yeah. Here catch.” Ranma
threw him a bread. Ryoga caught and examined it. “What… What is this?”
“Jeez greedy aren’t ya? Here.” Ranma
threw several more.
“Do you think this is about the Bread!
Stop playing around and fight!” Ryoga yelled and charged at him with Umbrella.
He swung but Ranma dodged easily.
“Hold on then what is this about?”
“Shut up Because of you I have seen
HELL!”
Ryoga attacked furiously but Ranma
dodged them easily. They were busy fighting they didn’t noticed that they were
leaving the battle ground. They were up over the fence and they were gone.
“Stay still!” Ryoga said as he swung his umbrella. It missed Ranma and hit the
fountain, which was cut in half. Ryoga acted instantly and opened his umbrella
to avoid the water but Ranma was unfortunate. He had turned to she.
“R….Ranma?” Ryoga asked unbelieving.
“Yeah. It’s me. What you gonna do. I
mean you can’t hit girls right?” Ranma teased.
“You…You…CHEATER!” Ryoga got mad and
he threw 30 of his bandanas, cutting everything in his path. Ranma dodged them
skillfully. Suddenly she heard a scream. She turned around and saw Akane barely
dodging the attack by Ryoga. “Akane!” Ranma yelled as she ran toward her. She
grabbed her and started to jump. She didn’t care about the fight. Akane was
more important. She jumped over the fence and landed on the soccer field. “Are
you Alright?” Ranma asked her.
“Y… Yeah.” Akane answered a bit
shaken.
“What’s the idea butting in my
Man-to-Man fight.”
“What? Who’s the man huh?” Akane
said angrily. What she just said made her really mad. “I saw you turned into a
girl so I decided to bring you a hot water, and you call that butting in.”
“I can take care of myself. You
didn’t need to help me!” Ranma yelled
SLAP!
Ranma raised his hand to her cheek
where he was hit. Akane had slapped her. He saw her eyes as she started to get
up. There were definitely tears in her eyes. She was crying. With out looking
she turned and started to leave. Ranma was struck with guilt. She didn’t meant
to make her cry. She just watched her leave.
“Stop ignoring me Ranma!” Ryoga said
as he threw another bandana. “Will you knock it off!?” Ranma yelled as she
kicked the hand that held bandana. Then he turned around and started to run
toward Akane. “Akane!” She yelled. Akane stopped “Don’t you ever call my name
again Ranma.” She turned around quickly and said in Angry voice. “As far as I’m
concerned. Our engagement is OFF!” She yelled. But when she turned around she
turned too quickly raising her hair. Perfect aim for the bandana that was
flying aimlessly.
Akane felt it. A little tug on her
head. And she felt lighter. She froze. She refuse to believe what happened. She
slowly raised her hand to reach for the hair behind her neck. It was gone. She
raised a little bit more. There she felt it. It was cut badly. She saw Ranma
staring at her in worrying look. “Akane….”
“He. She didn’t hurt seriously. Did
she?” Ryoga said. That made Ranma made. Still staring at her eye, her eyes
became angry looking. She was angry really angry. How dare he to say that. He
hurt her he hurt her. He was going to pay. She turned slowly. Everyone gasped
as they saw blue aura forming around Ranma. “Ryyoogaaaaaaa.” She turned and
faced Ryoga. “You dare to hurt her! You are going to Pay.” Her aura became
bigger and the wind started to blow around her. Rocks and grains started to
lift up as his aura started to defy gravity. And she charged at Ryoga.
Akane ran. Her hand on her face. She
ran and ran. She was crying, but didn’t want to show it. So she ran and ran
with her hand on her face. She got home and closed the door behind her. She
leaned against the closed door and signed. “Oh Akane you are home. How was…”
Kasumi came out of the kitchen and greeted Akane but stopped when she saw her
hair. “Akane! What happened to your hair?”
“Um. Oh. I felt like changing that’s
all. Can you fix it for me?”: Akane said looking at her with sad eyes. Kasumi
nodded and went inside to get the scissors.
Few hours later she was inside her
bedroom. She was staring at the mirror, checking at her hair. Kasumi did the
nice job fixing it. She started to think why she grew the hair. It was simple.
She wanted to make Dr. Tofu notice her. Well now it is gone. As Ranma said, he
loves Kasumi not her. She have to let him go.
“Akane your friend Yuri is here.”
Kasumi said behind the locked door. Akane got up and opened the door. She found
Yuri. She seems to be in a hurry.
“Yuri what’s wr……”
“Akane! Come on we have to go to the
Hospital right now.” Yuri grabbed her hand and started to drag her.
“What…. What’s going on?”
“It’s that red haired girl and that
guy. They are in the hospital.”
That made Akane to snap awake. She
started to run with Yuri toward hospital.
When she got to the hospital, she
was surprised to find Ryoga heavily bandaged lying on the bed. Next to him was
Ranma in girl form. She was looking at Ryoga with guilty look. She turned her
head and saw Akane. Then she turned her head back. “He will be alright. He will
heal completely by tomorrow.” Then she got up and headed toward the window.
Then she jumped and flew away, leaving Akane and Yuri in the room. Akane walked
toward Ryoga. He was badly burnt. “What… What happened to him?”
“It was that red haired girl. When
she found out that you were hurt by him, she got mad. You should have seem her.
Lights were coming out of her. Then she charged at him and beat the living
light out of him. He deserves it. I mean after what he did.”
“Oh”
“You know I don’t mind having
friends like her who cares for you. I don’t know why she refuse to see you
though.”
Akane’s head went down. She knew
why. She slapped him and said that our relationship was over. She didn’t meant
to hurt him this bad. She had to apologize. She had to. She ran out the room to
look for Ranma. She knew where to find him.
Ranma was now in his guy form. He
was sitting on his favorite spot inside the part. He was inside the wood
staring at the lake and the setting sun. It was beautiful site, and it
definitely a perfect place to think and lighten the mood.
Her words had hurt him. Living with
her made him fall in love with her. He doesn’t know about how she feels, but he
does. Well at least now he knows that she hates him. She couldn’t have said
that when she loved him.
Someone sat down next to him. He
turned and saw a short haired girl.
“Hair looks good on you. You look really cute like
that.” He said.
“Um… Thanks…” Akane said.
“………….”
“………….”
“………….”
“ Ranma?”
“…………”
“I’m sorry about what I said. I
didn’t mean it.”
“…………”
“ Ranma you are my best friend. You
are the only one who understands me. I didn’t really meant what I said.”
“Doesn’t matter. I’m leaving
tomorrow.”
“… Don’t…. Please…. Please don’t
leave me”
“Why ?”
“Because…. Because I love you.”
Ranma smiled. She loves him. She
said it. He turned to her. The light from the setting sun was shining at her,
making her looking like an angel. She was beautiful.
“Do you want a ring?”
“Huh?”
“Do you want a ring. I got some
money. At least we can make this engagement official.”
“Ranma… I don’t even know if you
love me. I’m not going to force this marriage. I don’t want a loveless
marriage.”
“Then I guess I have to buy you the
ring.”
Akane’s heart skipped one beat. In
next second Ranma was next to her swiping her into his arms. His face was very
close to hers. He was going to do it. Her heart was racing. He was going to
kiss her. He loves her. She closed her eyes, waiting for him. Her lips met his.
It was their first kiss, and considering where they are, the scene was just
right.
Next day. Akane got the ring.
Well. This is it for the first
chapter. You might wonder what’s wrong with Ranma, but you have to understand that.
He live 10 different lives and those lives had changed him. In other word he is
more thoughtful, and tactful. Something the original Ranma lack.
Wait for the next chapter. Ranma
meets Ryoga again. And Ukyo and Shampoo.
